“Or with you, if he happens to be gay and your type.” Joseph winked. “As she said, have fun. It’s better than sitting home alone.”

“I’ll try.”

Lyle set the alarm and locked up as soon as Joseph took off, and then headed to get his car. Again, he had the creepy feeling of be observed by an unknown someone but couldn’t spot who it could be. Imagination, he decided, certain he was right. It has to be.

When Damien knocked on Lyle’s door, on the dot of eight, he heard hurried footsteps and seconds later it opened.

“You’re on time.” Lyle gave him a small smile.

“I promised I would be.” Damien smiled back, his mind more on how handsome Lyle looked than anything else at the moment. He was wearing tight navy-blue slacks, and a cranberry shirt, only partially buttoned, over a pale blue turtleneck. “I like.” He swept his hand down to encompass Lyle’s choice of clothes.

“Thanks. You don’t look so bad yourself, if you like basic black.”
