That he was extremely interested in the man was now a given. He was fairly certain his feelings were reciprocated. “No, I know they are,” he murmured. “He cares as much for me as I do him. How did that happen in such a short time? Kindred souls? We are, sort of, since we’re loners, me by choice, him by necessity from what he said.”

Lyle was well aware that didn’t mean they’d spend the rest of their lives together. It took time to form a true relationship. One based on trust, the ability to communicate openly, to compromise when necessary, and above all else to be honest with each other. If we fail at any one of those it could mean the end of what we’re trying to build between us. Not a happy thought but one he accepted.
