Chapter 50

“Every time I go this way it makes me realize being a waiter isn’t that bad,” Damien commented. “I don’t think I could stand spending eight hours a day at some machine punching out…whatever.”

“No kidding. I’d go crazy.” Lyle glanced at him and quickly added, “No comments about my mental state, mister.”

Damien chuckled. “Wouldn’t think of it.”

A while later they were still on the highway, causing Lyle to ask, “Is this restaurant in the next county?”

“Now that you mention it…no. We take the next exit and then we’re almost there.”

As good as his word, a few minutes later they were pulling into the parking lot of a large, windowless building. If it hadn’t been for the sign in front that had a lobster and a bull, Lyle would have thought it was warehouse, and said as much.

“Probably because it was before the present owners took over. From what I’ve been told they put all their money into the interior and hiring the best chefs and wait staff.”
