Horatio hissed. His ears flattened, his back arched, and his tail spiked.

What the—Larry let out a breath. It was just a…He blinked. A pale guy, a little under average height, wearing a cloak?

Well, yeah, it was Halloween.

Horatio yowled and made a mad dash for the back of the bar.

What the hell had gotten into his cat?

He shook his head, then turned to the man and smiled. “Arrr, matey! What can I get for you?”

Stupid ass Donnelly, Matthew thought. The bartender thought a heart attack had felled his grandfather, but nothing like that would have stopped him from fighting the good fight. Matthew knew those monsters were behind it. They always had been. After all, they’d killed his uncles, one by one.
