I gave his hand an affectionate squeeze and shook my head. “You’re perfect.” Perfect? Fuck, what was going on with me? No fucking way was I letting myself get to that point. Shit.
“Gosh…no one’s ever said that to me.” His cheeks were pinker from a sudden flush, but he still kept his eyes on me. Nope, he wasn’t shy at all; he just needed to stop doubting himself
It was finally our turn to order, and I asked him, “What would you like? And don’t worry about the price. Order anything you want.”
“I’m pretty old school and cheap with drinks, so I’ll take a vodka and cranberry.”
“Ah, so you’re like my sister with the fruity drinks.”
“Well, actually, it depends. Cranberry is more on the tart side, but anything too sugary is definitely a no-no for me.” He glanced behind us at whom I assumed was Mirna. “See, like, your sister has that gummy bear drink from what I can tell. That’s just waytoo sweet for me.” He looked back at me and smiled joyfully some more.
