“Even when it’s not about coming to a complete acceptance of the other,” Ollie says, determined to finish his point. “It’s still at the basis of their choice. They accept that they can’taccept anybody and they can live with it. Those people aren’t many but that they exist and so they deserve a mention. Then, of course, you have the ones that choose not to bond. That’s a decision they must make for themselves, and one that is, in its own way, just as hard as the decision to bond. The world has so much variety that a sole answer isn’t enough.”

Mica scratches at her arm. “Let me see if I got this right. I can bond but how and when and if I do it depends entirely on me and my bonded. Is that right?”

“Yes,” Ollie says. “Mainly. It’s also completely possible to want to bond and not find the right person. I thought that would be my case for the longest time.”

Mica nods and they are left to their thoughts for the rest of the trip.
