“You seem more miserable than usual.” The overly kind voice brought Milo from his thoughts to reality.
Milo faced Liam who showed off his straight teeth. He blinked a few times, not understanding how the other had just casually strolled in, completely unaware of Milo’s mental breakdown.
“What’s wrong, Moo?”
“You weren’t here today.” Milo frowned because, irrationally, he felt he deserved some answers, despite being the one who got lost in his head.
“I was doing some shopping.” Liam motioned to the paper bag which looked suspiciously heavy. “I got you a gift!”
Milo felt his brain trickle out of his ear and leave him to face this conversation alone.
“Huh?” Milo let out a sound which Liam generously interpreted as a question mark.
“A gift. Let’s meet at our usual spot after you finish,” Liam talked fast and in a high pitch.
Milo felt bad for his eardrums, but his brain wasn’t there to notify him of the pain.
