“So old and still not wise.” She laughed as she sat on her rocking chair and knitted with expertise in her every move.


“You’re too harsh on yourself,” he responded and settled next to her.


“How’s Liam doing?” She didn’t move her eyes away from her handwork.


“He’s busy,” Jasper replied but he knew she could tell he was lying. He never could trick her. The older woman hummed in thought so he continued. “We argued yesterday.”


“It happens in a relationship, pet. I’m sure you’ll figure it out,” she said and patted his hand gently as she noticed him tightening it into a fist.


“I’m not sure, auntie, I’ve done some pretty bad things,” he admitted with shame, but the woman just laughed.
