By the time he parked and accompanied Alejandro to his front door, Mal’s body was bowstring tight. He was almost, but not quite, shaking with anticipation. He thought that one kiss might be enough to make him shatter, but he still wanted to feel Alejandro’s mouth on his. Alejandro sighed. Running a hand through his hair, he glanced at his still-closed door before turning back to Mal. “Would you still say that if I told you I can’t invite you in? I have an obscenely early call tomorrow. I really need to get some sleep.”


Mal almost asked if he was serious, but then, why would he joke about such a thing? He forced a thin smile and said, “Oh, yeah, I get that.”
