Chapter 18

It was hard for them to part on Sunday night, but Mal had a job early Monday morning. They spent ten minutes at Alejandro’s door, kissing good-bye, before he was finally able to let Mal go. Promises of meeting up for the drive to San Francisco on Tuesday kept Alejandro humming for the next day and a half.

Now, here they were, pulling into the parking lot of the hotel.

“I changed my reservation.” Alejandro had actually given this a lot of thought on Monday, and in the end decided that he didn’t care if it was too soon. He liked Mal, he was pretty sure Mal liked him, and it made economical sense to do it this way. “I got us a room with a king-size bed instead of two queens.”

“Good. I would have felt awkward climbing into your smaller bed.”

Glancing over, he caught Mal’s grin and returned it with one of his own. God, he loved that man’s smile. “And here I was, wondering how I was going to stay out of yours. I guess it’s a good thing we’re on the same page, huh?”
