Chapter 12

As the car came to a stop, Elora grabbed the door handle.

“Wait.” Kol grabbed her arm. “They are wolf shifters.”

“I know, but he’s my brother, and over my dead body they get him back.” She pushed the door open and took off running toward the ambulance.

Get him back?What the hell had she gotten him into?

Eli was crouching on the dirty floor in the gas station bathroom. The monster was trying to talk the woman behind the counter into leaving, but she was insisting on staying where she was—thank God. Had she left, the man would have pulled the door open.

He’d seen Varg do it.

Eli had once run into a bathroom and believed he’d be safe, but Varg had opened the door without seeming to notice it was locked.

Someone knocked on the door in rapid succession. “Sir?” It was a new voice. The emotion flooding him was a mix of concern and excitement. Excitement was the wrong word, the person on the other side of the door was in an adrenaline rush. “Sir, can you hear me?”
