He took a deep breath and tried to focus. “If he has a wolf familiar, does it mean he can turn into a wolf?”

“No, not fully. Then he would need to skin the wolf while it was in shifted form—”

“Stop it!” Ric snarled. “I don’t want to hear about more sick wizards.”

“I was talking about skinwalkers. It’s not a kind of magic the council approve of.”

“Doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist!”

Everyone stared at Ric, and he fisted his short hair while resting his head in his hands. Then he peeked at everyone. “I don’t want any more circles or warlocks or skinning alive.”

Thaddeus grinned. “They weren’t about to skin you alive, they only wanted your skull.”

Kol sighed and shook his head. “Can we focus?”

“Of course.” Thad turned his grin to Kol. “I know you guys don’t want to hear this, but what if he has a shifter familiar?”
