Chapter 41

“E-Ethan—!” Unable to help himself, Finn flung himself to Ethan’s bedside. The tears began anew as Finn pressed his face into Ethan’s neck. Still sluggish, Ethan managed to place his good hand on Finn’s shoulder as the latter blubbered incoherently. Julian had enough foresight to close the curtain behind them.

“Think you can fill us in now?” Julian’s question was directed to Deborah, who remained passive.

“A car sped through a stop sign. The driver blew over a 0.8 on the Breathalyzer, and he’s already been taken into custody. Thankfully, the crash was on the passenger’s side.”

“Injuries?”

“Minor concussion, fractured wrist, and a few dozen light lacerations. He’s banged up, but he won’t be for long.” Deborah turned back to Ethan, who was slowly stroking Finn’s sandy hair. “He got lucky.”
