“I don’t like this.” Deborah’s arms were folded tightly, staring at the pretty blonde reporter from a few yards away. She stood next to Ethan, not bothering to cover up her foul mood.

“You went over her questions earlier,” Ethan reminded her. “You know exactly what she’s going to ask. What’s the issue?”

Deborah sighed. “Once this hits the internet, there won’t be any room for doubt.”

“Maybe there shouldn’t be.”

“Ethan.” Deborah turned to him, her eyes serious. “There willbe backlash. There already is. Once the initial picture leaked, there was talk of a boycott from the midwestern demographic. They’ll see you differently. And when they know about your mental health—”

“No. I’m tired of being afraid.” Deborah didn’t seem soothed. Gently, Ethan put a hand on her shoulders. “You’ve been protecting me for years now. I know why. I know you never want me hurt, Deb. But I’m a grown man. This is my choice.”
