I nodded. “Sure, no problem.”
“Thank you somuch. Like I said before, tonight’s my last night because I paid for another night in advance when I first got here.”
“I understand.”
“This was not how I wanted to meet. I had everything planned out and of course I get mugged by a big and tall guy. There was no way I was going to fight him off, so he took my wallet and ran.”
What a sad situation, and who knew how long Gary would be there, since he had no money left to do anything. “Did you have a lot of stuff in your wallet?”
“Just my debit card and driver’s license, mostly. No cash or anything else important. I’m just glad I called my bank as soon as I could and got them to cancel the card. They’ll mail me a new one at home, so I really have no access to any of my money until I fly back.”
“You think one of your friends will lend you the money for a ticket?”
“Yeah, but I’ll just have them pay for a flight back and I’ll reimburse them as soon as I have access to my money.”
