“Game?” He hoisted himself further up in Sitting Bear’s saddle. “I like games!”
“The questions game,” Violet clarified. “Who left off last, Linus? You? Me?”
“I believe you asked the last one,” Linus said. “Officially. Let me think now…”
“Oh, oh!” Rory flailed his arms. “I want one, I want one!” Violet laughed and agreed. “Uuum.” Rory tapped his chin. “What’s your favorite thing to eat?”
“Boy ain’t that a question!” Violet grinned. “I suppose it depends on what’s in season. When Christmas rolls around, Mama used to make these chocolate cookies. See, we don’t get chocolate much, so it’s a real fine treat.”
Rory’s eyes blazed. “Chocolate…” he repeated, dreamily. “I had that once.”
“Twice,” Linus corrected. “Don’t you remember our trip to Kansas City? You got yourself a big old piece of chocolate. Ate it all in one go and ached for a whole day after.”
“Oh yeah!” Rory smiled, proud of such an accomplishment.
