Chapter 66

Finishing his plate, Rory wiped his mouth on the back of his sleeve and yawned widely. He set it aside to be washed in the morning and burrowed into his bedroll. “How much longer?”

“Not long,” said Mei. “We should make Van Buren by dinner time if we wake up early enough.”

Violet glanced over at her leather journal. “Say…does Van Buren have a Wells Fargo, you think?”

“They sure do,” said Mei. The tin of tobacco and rolling papers were on her knees, her dinner finished by now. “In fact, that’s usually Linus’s first stop.” Linus nodded in confirmation. “Why? Got somethin’ you want to send? You mentioned somethin’ before.”

“Possibly.” Violet opened her journal and flipped through a few blank pages. “Though I dunno if it’s safe to do so. I don’t want anyone trackin’ us down or nothin’.”
