Chapter 141

When Violet clicked into an empty chamber, she holstered her gun and snatched a low, broken branch from a nearby tree. Heart pounding, Violet sent Maple flying right into the center of the men, laying low to the saddle and swinging the branch blindly. If she could cause enough havoc, the Railwalkers could make a clean get away. Violet only hoped that she didn’t die in the process.

Violet gave her branch a mighty swing, but it never landed. One of the gunmen grabbed her wrist and yanked her from the saddle. She hit the cold, hard ground without mercy, and for a moment, her eyes and ears didn’t function properly. When the ringing faded, and her blurry vision came to, Violet was looking up at the face of a man she didn’t think she’d ever see again.
