Chapter 6

Back in Arizona, she hadn’t dared. It would have been too painful, awkward and difficult to run into people she and Mike had been friends with when she was with someone else—even if the chance had come up, though none had. It was almost as if everyone expected her to don black dowdy clothes and become a recluse! Divorce was one thing, but widowhood seemed to be a whole different scene. She wasn’t quite sure why, unless it was an archaic fragment of old traditions. While it seemed like everyone had been through at least one divorce, widowhood for a thirty-something woman was outside the norm.
