The man who waited on him was the owner. “Sure, I can tell you how to get back to the canal. You aren’t that far away, really. It’s just five blocks to the west. Turn left when you leave the bakery and follow that street. When it forks in a couple of blocks, be sure to go to the left, and you will be at the Rialto Bridge in about three blocks. You can get the vaporetto there if you want.”
Dominic thanked him and quickly found his way to the bridge. The Rialto was perhaps the most famous and beautiful bridge in Venice, appearing on many post cards. He decided to carefully explore the neighborhood on the other side of the bridge, where he found another bakery and decided to purchase some things to take back to the apartment. But he didn’t venture too far, not wanting to get lost again, as it was time to be thinking about a shower and a change of clothes before the show this evening.
