Chapter 70

“Don’t you realize it’s rude to leave a party early? The fun has just begun,” she said.

A burst of air threw me into a chair in front of the dining room table before the woman shot two vines from each of her hands. The vines wrapped themselves around my arms, attaching them to the armrest. Other vines tied my legs to the front legs of the chair.

The lady sauntered toward me, then she hovered over me.

“What are you doing to me?” I asked, making sure not to whine or whimper. I refused to show any weakness.

“I’ll probably kill you, but I’m not sure yet. I do want Queen Vivian to reward me handsomely.”

“You’ll never get away with this,” I said before spitting in her face.

She wiped my saliva from her cheek. “You shouldn’t be rude to the person who decides your fate.”

“I might as well go down swinging if you’re going to kill me.”

I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I didn’t try to fight or escape.
