“Does the diocese know you’re here?” he asked.


Whalen shrugged. “I didn’t get full support, but they were excited to hear that I’d been selected. Why?”


The nature of the priest’s work on board the Educator wasn’t really Cillian’s concern. He had to help Father Whalen get better because that was his job. After listening to Whalen’s chest, Cillian moved to a room near the back of the medical center where they kept pills and treatments. He called to Zoe, “Is it bacterial or viral?”


“Bacterial. The test just came back.”


“Amoxicillin or Penicillin?” Two antibiotics that could treat Father Whalen’s pneumonia.
