Chapter 12

Oh. He was being weird.

“Hey,” he said.

Marc spun around, startled, then smiled. “Hey!”

“I wanted to…” Sora hesitated, then said, “Explain.”

“Explain what?”

With a heavy sigh, Sora walked into the garage so he didn’t have to speak with a raised voice. Marc ran a hand back over his hair again, redirecting some droplets away from his face.

“I’m…I might have overreacted.”

“No,” Marc said, but Sora shook his head and held up a hand to stop him.

“I did. You were trying to help, I get it. I just…Uh, that’s what I call a meltdown. My reaction. It’s an autism thing. I’m used to things being a certain way, I expect them to be that way, and I don’t react well when they aren’t.”

“Oh.” Marc’s eyes had gone wide at the mention of autism. “Are you…So you’re autistic?”

“Yeah. I think, anyway. It’s really hard to get a diagnosis, especially as a…” He let out a heavy breath. Might as well cover all the bases. “Well, I was raised as a girl. I’m trans. So it’s all really complicated.”
