Chapter 36

“Dad? Alec’s awake. I told him what happened. He wants to see if Will or Martin can get through yet.”

Rowan spoke in his normal tone, throwing Alec off-guard until he realized he’d called for Graham. They were cats. They could hear better than humans.

“Are they coming?” he asked.

Rowan paused, his head cocked as if listening, then nodded. “All of them.” He left the door open as he returned to the bed, the illumination behind him outlining his slim hips and broad chest. Even in such a short space, his feral grace was hypnotic. Alec could stare at him all day and never get tired of his animal beauty.

When Rowan hesitated at the side of the bed, Alec scooted over to make more room. “Please,” he said, uncaring of how pathetic he sounded. “I can’t…I need…” Except he couldn’t put his thoughts into words.
