“Are you going to move in?” Alec asked.

Rowan glanced at him out of the corner of his eye. “Is that an invitation?”

“I don’t know what you were expecting,” he replied. “I don’t know what your needs will be since you don’t have acres of land to run around on.”

Rowan took his time answering, not speaking again until he sat on the edge of the bed to put on his shoes. “That’s the one thing about living in a city I haven’t figured out yet. Like, how do familiars who live in urban areas handle it? Do they not shift at all?”

“Maybe they do it at night when they sleep. Gilliland is a senator. There’s no way he’s shifting in public. It would be all over the news, otherwise.”

“I’ll talk to Dad the next chance I get. He can point me in the right direction, at least.”

“Well, you’re welcome to move in if that’s what you want.”
