“You won’t have to,” Will said. “I’ll go into hiding again. I’m the one he wants.”

“And what if he puts Alec in danger to lure you back out?” Rowan retorted. “He’s done it once and it worked. He’ll try it again.”

“Yeah.” Zander seemed unfazed by Alec’s jerk of surprise that he was agreeing with them. “He’s been planning for this contingency for years. I’m sure you’ve already figured this part out, but he’s the one who pointed me at Alec in the first place. He wanted eyes on the inside.”

“I’m your weak spot,” Alec said. “Hiding won’t change that.”

Rowan stopped dead in his tracks. “What about your mom?”
