Chapter 116

Alec missed him. More than he felt was reasonable considering the relatively short amount of time they’d spent together. He missed the warmth Rowan brought to a room simply by being in it. He missed joking around with him when Rowan let his guard down. He missed the flutter in his stomach when he would catch Rowan out of the corner of his eye. He even missed arguing when Rowan was being a stubborn ass about something.

But the drive from Montana wasn’t a short one, and though Rowan had flown back four days ago, he still needed time to pack all his stuff together and help his dad secure the estate until Graham could patrol again. Gilliland might’ve given his word that the feud was over, but Uncle Martin didn’t believe he’d stick to it. He was acting as paranoid as ever, Rowan had said when they’d talked that morning. Rowan was still trying to talk him down from selling the estate entirely and finding someplace else to live.
