Chapter 17

“Really guys, loosening up a little wouldn’t hurt you.” Carlo regretted his words when both Anek and Zen stared at him as if hewas the alien.

Anek gave a nod, one sharp, short nod, and then he left the cockpit.

“You should work on your manners, Zen.”

“Why?”

“It’s polite to be…polite.”

“I wasn’t rude.”

“Anek, you can leave. That’s pretty rude. You didn’t ask how he was, how the work had gone, if there was anything you needed to know. You didn’t thank him for staying longer than you’d agreed on.”

“He offered to stay longer.”

“Because he was concerned about me being here!” Carlo threw his hands in the air, and Zen followed the motion with his eyes.

“Concerned?”

Maybe he hadn’t been. Perhaps he’d been curious. Either way, he’d wanted to be included…maybe.
