“I will be going to Skodros soon to witness these female pirates I’ve heard so much about, as well as make trade and gather information for my uncle.” He lowered his voice. “I will do whatever it takes to help him, and the goddess I serve. My arrival will be a good opportunity for you to demonstrate that you are willing to do the same.” Marcus patted Demetrius on the shoulder. “Try to be patient. We willbe victorious.”


Driada climbed over the rocky terrain of the hillside, trying desperately not to lose her footing. She had already slipped and rubbed her arm against the side of a rock, earning her a new bruise. The smell of fresh water filled her nose, and cries of gulls could be heard overhead. The water was a bright turquoise color. Beneath its surface, she could see the shadows of fish swimming.


It had been seven days since her last encounter with Thea, and yet she was still as stunned as ever.
