The urge to breathe was powerful, but her urge to vanquish her foe was stronger. Driada swam after the siren as fast as she could, and once she had reached it, she plunged her dagger into its throat. She watched the life fade out of its eyes. With the deed done, Driada swam back to the surface. Somehow, she had not drowned.


She gasped and sputtered once her head breached the water.
