Gabriel’s lungs screamed for air, and he might have been screaming, too, he wasn’t sure. All he knew was the cold surface against his face, the thundering roar of his heart, and then how it all stopped.
It stopped for the longest of seconds.
Then all hell broke loose.

Chris drove as fast as he could up the gravel road to the cabin. His heart thudded in his throat, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was to get there before it was too late.
A Black BMW had parked right by the stairs. Chris let up on the gas but did nothing to stop his car from smashing straight into the spotless, shiny vehicle in front of him.
The seat belt cut into his skin as the vehicles collided, but it didn’t matter. As soon as he could he pushed the button to be freed.
“Gabe!” The door bounced back against him when he threw it open, but he didn’t care. He had to get inside the cabin.
