Chapter 20

Aiden looked around. The kitchen was old, and rather small, but functional. The cupboards had once been white but had an almost grey shade to them now. The refrigerator was covered in drawings—some several years old by the looks of them.

“You can chop some veggies.” Jen’s voice didn’t hold any of the warmth it had earlier. Aiden figured he should apologise for his behaviour at the café. It was rather childish to storm out like he’d done, but he couldn’t find the right words.
