Chapter 4

James McAllen POV

2 days went by and I still knew the same that I knew 2 days ago, which is nothing. Nobody knew who was in charge, nobody ever saw the leader. And here we are with no information to look up. Besides the annoyance of all the anonymity in this, I was still annoyed with the fact that I can't end this. We made some plans to defend ourselves in case of an attack on our warehouse and also the center of our operations. I mean we always had a defense plan, now we just leveled it up.

All of this got me wondering if we were going after the right group. Besides the threat made to Alison I never heard of them, we never got threatened in the area they operated on, nothing put them on my radar before all this. Maybe it's time to stop what we are doing and star going in a different direction. I am going to find out what have been doing and what made them so secure that they could threaten us and get away with it.

"Mateo, I have another idea." I say entering the room where he is and seeing him standing in front of his computer and our other 2 people who worked with him in the informatics side. He was amazing so we didn't need a huge team, he always hacked important places as a hobby when he was a teenager and now he uses those skills to get payed

"I'm ready"

"Instead of trying to find out who the leader is, change the way. Look for anything that happened in the last months that passed us by, fewer sales in a particular area, lost contracts, whatever. And then see if it can be associated to anyone we know that is from that crew"

"Good one. I will do that, no problem"

When I get out I pass through Alex office and he makes a sign for us to talk, he follows me to my office and I lock the door, right now I trust no one.

"What's up?"

"I didn't have time to talk about this before but, Rebecca? Really? Isn't that over already?" he asks looking serious and I try not to laugh because he also wanted to do it

"I mean, you know that there are moments when I'm busy and I call her because she's easy and accessible. That night was more because of the stress and I came home from vacation and it's just problems, and Alison was in the middle of it all, you know Alison is off-limits. It was stupid I know"

"Don't do it again, if we are stressed I can only imagine how she is, she has nothing to do with the things we do. All of this stresses me out and I hate that she was dragged in this, the least you can do is not stress her more with your stupid female friends"

"Alright, you're right. I already recognized it was stupid to do that. I went there the next morning to see how she was and after almost getting kicked out of her house I realized she was more than fine and a great mood as always" okay, I used my beloved irony at the end, she was never in a good mood around me

"I'm glad we could work this out. I'm trying to not go there every day, I don't want her to feel watched but I always talk with the security guards to make sure everything is alright. I'm getting frustrated, the days go by and we know nothing" I knew he needed to vent, he has been in this position for 5 dias, I have been going through this in the last 3 days and it's not as easy and I thought it would be

"This will work out fast, we are better than this"

"True. I have to go now, call me if anything happens"

He gets out and after 15 minutes I do the same, when I was leaving the warehouse I saw Alison's car and when I got closer she stepped out, she looked pissed to be honest but that is not rare.

"Where is my brother? I called him and he has the nerve to hang up on my face. Who does he think he is?"

"He is working Alison, you know that some of us still do a thing called work, that work right now is to make sure nothing happens to your pretty face"

"Is Ethan here? I need to talk to either of them. Or Mateo or Mason, I don't care. As long as it's not you it's okay" she says and I can't help but to look at her indignant

"You know you can talk to me right?" I ask she has the nerve to laugh in my face, not very nice if you ask my opinion

"I know, that's what I'm doing, unfortunately. It's just that this is something I don't pan on doing for much longer if I have other options, and I have them"

"They are all inside working, that's what I pay them to do"

She enters the warehouse and I follow her releasing a deep breath. Ethan was passing by and when she sees him she basically runs to go hug him, I mean she definitely walked faster. What does Ethan has that I don't? Why can't she talk to me but she can talk to him?

"What are doing here beautiful?" Could he be more obvious? How many years has he been crushing on her? Around 5 years, from what I can remember, she is so smart in a lot but in this she is blind.

"Well, I called Alex but it looks like he is busy because he hang up on my face. So I came looking for you because I need to talk to someone or I'm going to go crazy and your phone goes to voicemail"

I got curious but they left, obviously, and then I remembered that if probably Ethan was going to tell to Alex, then Alex would tell me and I would know it either way.
