Chapter 1

23rd of August, 2055.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Loud, deafening firearm noises came from the 24th floor of the Petronas Twin Towers. Glasses shattering everywhere, dropping to the floor as people run away from the source of chaos; two groups exchanging shots between each other. One group had five men in black suits with automatic firearms, shooting what seems to be a jewelry store.

No, they're not the law enforcement and there were no robberies. The person in the store was simply taking cover inside from the fire. Yes, it was only one man- no, a woman. She wore a black mask on her face. She only had a pistol as a mean of defense, and her bullets were running low. It's not like she couldn't run away. She can just sprint away amidst the shooting but that would be risky.

Then the each of the five men slowly stopped shooting as their bullets were being emptied.

'Chance!', she thought, before peeking quickly and shooting three rounds accurately into the heads of the now three dead men. The other two finished reloading and shot again. She quickly took cover again, but this time she was ready to run away.

She sprinted outside the store. The two guys saw her and started aiming at her. Then bullets rained down on her, and she screamed in pain before staggering to the floor, but before the men could get close to her body, she suddenly stood up and ran away as if nothing ever happened!

She ran straight to the glass windows! Keep in mind, it's the 24th floor. The men couldn't do anything but watch as she ran through the glass, now broken and jumped from the 24th floor.

Now she had to wait until her body hits the ground. Any second now..... A little bit more and....

Splat.

Her limbs almost shattered to pieces. She managed to minimize the damage to her body before hitting the ground. Her head was cracked open. The sight was gory. Fortunately, there were no bystanders to witness what happened. It was 1 o'clock in the morning. Suddenly, her lifeless body twitched and twitched. Her limbs started regrowing, her cracked head closing itself.

The small wounds started healing. She was regenerating. Then, a few seconds later, she slowly breathed and opened her eyes. She quickly stood up as if she just didn't fall down from the 24th floor and died. She ran away from the scene as quickly as possible.

A few minutes later, the two men in suit arrived at the spot where she fell from. Unfortunately, she was no longer there....

"Fucking immortal. I swear if we got her I would fucking torture her myself." One of the men said. He was bald, and looked old.

"Save your fantasies for later James. We lost three men just because of that immortal. Now we have to report to Ms. Dwayne about this. We'll definitely get an earful."

"Whatever, let's call in the clean-up crew."

They then slowly vanished into the night.

24th of August, 2055.

Kedah, Malaysia.

Fareeq slowly opened his eyes to the sound of metal clanging. It was from the kitchen. He slowly got out of bed and grabbed a towel and headed for the shower.

After 10 minutes he got out with wet hair and a towel around his lower body. He went to the drawer to get another towel and dried his hair. He then threw it on the chair to leave itself drying. He was too lazy to go outside and hang it. He combed his long hair to the side, and left it there without using any hair gel. He liked it when his hair covers his forehead.

Fareeq then dressed casually. A t-shirt and track pants. He had no plans for today's morning. After all, it's Saturday. He could do whatever he wants today. By the time he finished dressing, the sound of spatula hitting against the wok had already stopped. He could smell fried rice from downstairs. Before he goes downstairs for breakfast, he opened his holo-device and checked on today's news. Fareeq liked reading the online news. It was a habit he got from when he was still a child.

Nothing out of the ordinary today. As usual, the tension between the first world countries is getting higher. They're on the verge of declaring war on each other, but hey there's United Nations. Thank god for them. If those big countries start fighting each other, what about Malaysia?

Of course, a small country is still a small one to the eyes of those "world leading countries", but Malaysia's technological advancements is getting closer to United States' level of technology. Alas, a country that used to be a third world country is not even recognized to the world. To them, Malaysia is still a small country despite it's accomplishments and developments.

In 2043, Malaysia was one of the eleven countries that contributed to the development of Pacific Sky Base. It's a moving floating land that does not need to "land" anymore and will keep hovering thousands of feet in the skies. The one who owns the land is the United Nations, but there's a lot of facilities on it and normal citizens are allowed to come every once in a while. Of course, with Malaysia being one of the contributors, it's citizens are allowed to come and go without any fees.

In 2047, the Pacific Sky Base was finished and job offers were advertised to everyone in the world. A lot of people with select professions were needed, and then housing began on the base. Of course, a normal house on the base has very expensive rent. There were also shops, malls, a military base, in a small thriving city.

Back to the point, even if the powerhouses starts waging war, Malaysia probably won't be affected. Probably. After all those years Malaysia had already developed it's own weapons and finally have a powerful military power. Furthermore, Malaysia is one of the countries in ASEAN, and it's also a commonwealth country. No other country would dare wage war against Malaysia for now. Yet.

Fareeq browsed on the news page for more interesting news, until he found one with the headlines; "24th floor of the Twin Tower is ruined. Traces of gunfight found."

He clicked on the link and was brought to a local news page. The news stated that there were bullet casing scattered around the 24th floor, and a jewelry store was destroyed because of "focused gunfire towards the jewelry store". No blood could be traced, implying that no one died.

Fareeq himself wasn't as interested, so he just brushed it off. There had been several shootings in past years but no one died in them. At this point it seemed normal to him. So he closed the holo-device and went downstairs to the dining room. When he went there his aunt was already preparing breakfast for him. Your usual delicious fried rice.

"Morning Fareeq."

"Morning Aunt Lilian."

Fareeq took a seat and picked up the spoon then began eating slowly. His aunt sat across the table from him.

"Any plans today?" She asked.

"None. Why?"

"I want to go do grocery shopping."

"Eh? Didn't we just bought groceries a week ago?"

"I'm thinking ahead. We don't have to keep buying groceries often if we buy them in advance."

Fareeq didnt say anything anymore and nodded. Lilian turned on the holo-tv and switched to the news. The voice of the reporter can be heard after.

"The authorities found traces of a gunfight on the 24th floor of the Petronas Twin Towers. Bullet casing and bullet holes were discovered everywhere, and apparently there were no casualties. The local authorities claimed that this was a gunfight between rival gangs."

Lilian focused on the news while Fareeq just finished his meal. He already read about it so he didn't need to listen to the news. After about half an hour Lilian and Fareeq went outside and entered the car to head for grocery shopping. Lilian made sure everything was secure before leaving the house.

Moments later, their car left the porch and headed for the city. A few minutes later they had entered the main road and is now headed for the highway. Lilian and Fareeq killed the silence by having a small talk. Mostly about Fareeq's studies and Lilian's work.

Lilian work as a full-time architect, and because of that, Fareeq decided to pursue architecture when he was choosing which university to go to. He basically learnt everything from Lilian and from university. Plus, Fareeq liked drawing, so choosing a career that suits him best is good enough. Even Lilian was stoked when she found out that Fareeq chose architecture as a career choice.

When he was 10, his parents disappeared without a trace, and his closest relative was Lilian. She decided to take him in without hesitation. After all, she was lonely, and needed someone to talk to. She doesn't mind having to look after Fareeq. During those years of looking after him she already treated him as her own son. She showered him with love.

Even though he was treated fully with love, Fareeq didn't act like a spoiled child at all. He never complained, never asked for anything, not until Lilian asked him if he ever wanted anything. The most expensive thing he ever asked for is a holo-phone. No more than that. It became more confusing for Lilian. Why would his parents abandon an obedient child like him. She never knew.

Lilian and Fareeq kept chatting but Lilian mainly focused on the road. She's driving at the normal speed because they weren't in a rush. After all it's still early in the morning and not a lot of people have woken up yet.

Then, out of the blue, the car in front of them stopped out of nowhere instantly. Lilian was surprised and turned the steering wheel to avoid collision, but even when she did that, a car that was also avoiding collision from behind hit the left side of the car where Fareeq is sitting and their car overturned. The other car pushed theirs to the road divider. A chain reaction happened on the highway.

In their car, Fareeq and Lilian had already lost consciousness...
