Showered with Affection and Appreciation

The people at home have prepared a celebration for everyone's successful recovery.

They are all in the backyard at the moment, setting up the tableware. It appears to be a picnic of some sort, going by the decors ornamenting the garden.

"What's the occasion?" Ercilia asked. "Did we miss someone's birthday?"

Ruxandra chuckles. "We're celebrating your long life, dear, so enjoy it while it lasts."

Ercilia blinks rapidly, and then, a sheepish grin. In an unbridled show of affection, she pulls Ruxandra into a hug.

"I never properly thanked you," she whispered into her aunt's shoulder, embracing her tightly. "For everything you've done for me."

"You gave me a choice when the world didn't," she responded, squeezing her niece just as tightly. "I should be the one thanking you."

Ruxandra gently pushes her away. She then flashes Ercilia a lopsided grin.
