CHAPTER 3

After a few minutes, I finally have time for myself. Time for me to just have a long hard look or just to breathe on my own without the worry of everyone or anyone listening or staring at me but at least I got my exam completed. I head over toward the only massive room throughout the school... the cafeteria, the freshly baked rolls smell, and semi-good fresh coffee in the morning like living in France with all the wide range of smells. The completely cleaned room, with no rubbish on the floor or the tables. Even like a zoo is quieter and less messy but that all changed; today it's as noisy as ever like a crowd at a football game. The mess would even win awards as the messiest place over my bedroom. Some tables are full of trays, empty wrappers from sweets, and crisp packets. The floor is hard to walk on from all the stickiness of spilled fizzy drinks. Groups of students gather all different parts of the cafeteria, gossiping and maybe even studying. I move swiftly over to a table; bashing my bag against the chair and plunking down into another against the wall. Dispositioning my head back I thought to myself.

"This really isn't my day." In haste, I pull out my phone waiting for it to be flashing with messages or missed calls but of course still no callback or messages from Nathan.

"What the hell is he doing?" I pull up Ben's number and begin to text him.

ME- Ben, I need your help. Nathan isn't answering his phone. Can you come and meet me in the cafeteria? ASAP

I hit send and continue to stare at the ceiling when my phone DINGS. I check my phone and see Ben's message.

"Already," I thought "That was quick."

BEN- Hey, What's up? I'm still in class, just finishing maths and I'll be out, okay?"

ME- I had a strange show up, first I kind of had a blackout and painted some type of creature and I saw something in the bathroom as I went to clear up

BEN- Saw something? Something dead?

ME- Yes... but this thing spoke to me. It asked me for help. I tried contacting Nathan yet. He never got back to me. Do you think he's okay? I know work has been pretty crazy but he would have answered at least by now. It is technically a family emergency.

BEN- I thought he said he got meetings all day. He might not be near his phone or the phone could be dead, you know what he likes when it comes to charging that thing. I overheard some students, talking about how apparently another two bodies had been found in the woods. Do you think it connected to Melinda?

ME- Two bodies? Wow. I don't know if it is connected but I would rather not think about it. I don't need more dramatic things added on to what we already got.

BEN- Sorry, yeah you're right, Iris. I should be out in about ten minutes or so. See you soon. Meet you in the cafeteria.

ME- Of course, see you soon.

I place my phone into the front pocket of my bag. I glanced up to see my misfits group of friends.

Alec, whose six-foot, short brown laidback hair, his bright green eyes reflects like the sun gleaming against the grass. his purple jersey shows off his jock-like personality with his navy blue, green stained jeans from probably tackling his other jock friends. Alec is one of our best on the football field. He recently joined our most awkward group.

Jessica, who's possibly the smallest out of the group. Her medium, messy electric blue hair, light hazel brown eyes remind me of the light tree bark. The style of her clothes is a don't give a fuck attitude- short black leather jacket, leggings and converses with multi-color shoelaces. Jessica is amazing and different like me but not that much different. She never lets anyone put her down. My one, true best friend since I moved here eleven years ago.

And of course the bitches of bitches, Ruby the meanest girl in the school and well my friend. Her red long curly hair, bright blue eyes, and inappropriate short dress make her feel older than she is. Even though she is small but not as small as Jessica. Don't ever let that bother you. You see ruby is that kind of girl who thinks she knows it and acts as she owns it. She is still a very old friend like Jessica.

"Hey guys" I shouted as I raised from my seat and waved over the gang. I moved back down on the chair. The guys rushed over and sat down in front of me.

"Hey, Bigmouth. How was your exam?" Alec asked. Bigmouth, the nickname I got for chugging thirty-six shots of vodka, not my best moment especially being drunk and having magic. I had to get Nathan to fix it all, he grounded me for about three months and god the lectures I got during them dreadful times.

"Wasn't too bad, you know same old same old" I lied. I quickly notice Ruby tapping away at her phone like crazy.

"Ruby, everything okay?" I asked.

"Yeah whatever" she shook her head "I got to go, adios" Ruby replied as she rapidly got up and hugged each one of us, and walked off.

"Wow, she actually knows Spanish" Alec rolled his eyes.

"What got her knickers in a twist? I haven't seen her like that since she and Derek broke up and got back together an hour later." I asked Alec and Jessica.

" She caught..." Jessica started to announce quietly as she moved in closer to me.

"Loverboy Derek at it again. Kissing was the crime this time!" Alec proudly interrupted with a Cheshire cat-like smile across his face.

"Oh for god sake, why does she let him do this to her? She made herself a complete mug. If he truly loves her, he wouldn't do the things that he has done to her. Oh, don't tell me his lame arse excuse about how he... he fell into her like before?" I sighed. What a dickhead. This guy really needs a good slap across the face. Promptly, a loud noise of trays crashes across the cafeteria floor like a plague of rats being whistled by the pied piper.

"Watch where you going dipshit! Come on, what are you going to do? You're going to get your big sister on me? Or how about your little nerdy friends?" shouted as the guy shoved Ben to the floor.

" Ah, shit. Not this again" I thought to myself as I rushed over grabbing my bag along with me. I force myself through the crowd, helping Ben up on his feet. The shack of shit douchebag, Michael. His dirty blonde hair, with a so-called hardman scar down his right eye, which he apparently got from a fight with a heavyweight boxer when really a cat scratched his face. As much as a sack of shit he is, he surely dresses like one with his ripped jeans, grabby white tank top, and of course the scruffiest shoes. I call his kind of people a wannabe bad boy who of course has daddy or mummy issues. I could see the anger growing throughout Ben's face. A small bright light clasps between Ben's fingertips, I quickly grab his hand and whisper in his ear.

"Don't do this ben. Not here. He's not worth it." I squeezed his hand tighter.

"You're better than that." I felt a sudden pull from his hand. The light dims down rapidly. Ben starts to calm down, taking a deep breath. I release his hand from my grip and help him pick up his books and bag. I rush over to Michael and push him with all my might, nearly knocking him on his arse.

"Pick on someone your own size for once, leave my brother out of it." I calmly said but secretly and easily could rip his head clean right off letting the blood fly all over everyone and across the walls, tables, and ceiling the ultimate bloodbath but then again I don't think I get away with it easily especially with Nathan powers to hide things plus prison definitely would go well for me. I pulled Ben gently across his shoulder and started moving him toward the cafeteria doors.

" is that it? You're Not gonna fight me? Come on, big boy" Michael shouted as he pucks his lips together making kissing noises at ben. Ben tries to push me to attack Michael; I pulled him once again with me, this time I know I need to get him out of here as fast as I can.

"Just ignore him, he's such a prick," Jessica said as she rushed over to us.

"Fucking wuss!" shouted Michael. Michael then rips a football clean-off from a much smaller student and hurled it toward us. I moved like a flash from a camera to see back at Michael, slowly releasing the ball and hurtling toward my head. I swing my arm against my face when a sudden arm with a black wolf-type tattoo burst across my face catching the ball inches away from my face. I let a long deep sigh.

"I think you might want to watch where you throw things." calmly said the tattooed boy. The tattooed boy looks familiar like I saw him before. I stare at his face for what felt like hours; trying to figure out who he was when it hit me, the guy from outside the toilets. He flashes a wink at me and throws the ball straight back toward Michael, hitting against his stomach. Michael quickly glanced back toward us like a wild raging rabid dog. I rapidly look at the tattooed boy and see his eyes turn to bright yellow moonlight. Michael quickly stumbled back in shock and ran back behind himself out of the cafeteria like a scared little child.

"God, I hate guys like that, never show respect?" He smiled at me. I notice that his once yellow moonlight eyes are now bright blue eyes as blue as the sky. "How the hell did he do that?" I thought as we all headed back outside in the opposite direction of Michael.

"Oh my god. That was awesome man!" Alec said as he shook the boy's hand firmly.

"Thanks, man. I just did what anyone else would do. I don't like bullies" he replied.

"yeah... and you're hot too," Jessica said as she bites her lower part of her lip. Everyone moves quickly at her like meerkats watch out for predators. Jessica quickly becomes very shy and stuttering. "Ah...I...I...mean, I got to go. see ya." Jessica walks as she drags Alec with her.

"See ya, Iris" Alec shouted.

"I'm sorry about my friend. She gets a bit weird in front of guys, never really had a boyfriend or the guts to talk to a guy." I said as we slowly walked over toward the benches.

"Yeah. Trust me on that when I first met her; She couldn't stop looking at me, it was kind of freaky but cute at the same time." Ben replied. The boy giggled at the thought.

"I'm gonna go and grab some stuff from my locker but I'll meet you in the library or something Iris?" ben asked.

" Oh yeah of course." I smiled at Ben as he rushes off. Everyone leaves me with the new stranger guy that stands in front of girls' bathrooms and acts all hard man when clearly could have took the guy myself. The rules I have to stick by for Nathan. He better love me for keeping this way. God, what I do for this family...
