I Should Be Thankful

"Okay, forget about that." Bradley cleared his throat as he changed the topic, "I have a gift for you." He grinned, "But not now, not now… Shoot some targets down first. Prove your worth."

Samuel trembled at the order. Bradley grabbed the pistol he had already loaded with bullets. He handed it over to Samuel.

Samuel's hand was too small to even reach the trigger by itself. But Bradley made sure the child gripped it accurately. Samuel tightened his grip on the heavy weapon, making sure he didn't disappoint Bradley.

He held it out to aim at one of the targets. His hands trembled, but he tried his best to fix his aim to the target. He didn't want to miss. He couldn't afford to miss. He exhaled sharply before gulping. He didn't want to disappoint Bradley.
