Setting Free

"We let the data fall into places. Years of hard work were piled one on top of the other until we reached an answer, a conclusion. Must a glitch like us continue to live on? Or must we cease? We would never know." Nancy read out slowly from the journal. "They called us various names. The undead, never dying humans, and whatnot. 

But we proved henceforth that we are not human beings. These mutations, this glitch, the cause is unknown. But now we exist as a different entity, and nothing, no one can steal our identity from us."

"Homo immortalis?" Beverly uttered in a questioning tone as she read the taxonomic classification. 

Beverly was a biology student herself, so this was somehow believable. The entire hierarchy was the same, just like humans. Except the species, which happened to be different. 

"Do you know why you are called Homo sapiens?" Sebastian raised a question.
