Chapter Forty-Two

Jasmine's POV

"Aren't you going to sleep on your bed?" I asked Alex who was still sitting with me on my bed.

"I am more comfortable here" he said.

"Why? Your bed is definitely more comfortable."

"Just let me be Jasmine, I'll probably be dying soon so let me do whatever I want so I'll have no regrets" he said.

"You assured me, you said you won't let me die, I don't want us die."

"That was when I was outside this room but now I'm also infected too, I feel weak with each passing moments so there's nothing I can do" he said.

"Aren't you afraid of dying?" I asked and he chuckled.

"Those who are afraid of dying are those that have something to loose" he said.

"So you have nothing to loose?" I asked and he nodded.

"I have no one, I have no family, I've lived a very difficult life all this while Jasmine, death will be a salvation for me" he said.

"My parents are dead too" I said. "Mom died while giving birth to me and Dad died when I was just 4 so I never really got to know my parents, I was raised by my Mom's younger sister, Megan's parents and they are everything to me."

"You don't want to die because of them?" Alex asked.

"No, I don't want to die because of me, I have a life I want to live, I want to live longer caring for the people I love but I guess not all wishes comes true, you should really go to your bed now, goodnight." I said as I laid on my bed.

"I'm sorry Jasmine but there's nothing I can do now" I heard Alex say.

Emma's POV

I opened my eyes and it was dawn already.

"Shit I dozed off."

I looked around and everyone of them was asleep too.

"Wake up you all!" I yelled as I banged on the table and they all quickly sat up.

"It's already morning meaning we only have just a day to come up with a cure for them before their condition worsen and we might not be able to save them so please, tell me you guys found something good" I said.

"Nothing" Nathan said.

"I have no idea how to make a cure" Megan said.

"I found out nothing too" Susan said.

"You guys must be joking!" I said.

"We aren't Albert Einstein, Emma, the time is too short for us to make such extensive research and come up with a cure" Andrew said.

"I guess I'll just have to go meet the Albert Einstein of our generation then." I said as I walked out of the room and went straight to hospital wing to the quarantined room.

They are all still asleep.

"Alex! Alex!!" I called repeatedly as I knocked on the glass door.

He finally woke and walked up to the door.

He looks much paler than he was yesterday.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Considering the fact that I'll be dying soon, I'd say yes" he said with a smile.

"I told you I won't let you die."

"You've found the cure?" He asked.

"No, I need your help in finding it, I need your brain" I said.

"I cant help you with that, I can barely think clearly at the moment, I don't think my brain will be of any help to you."

"You are giving up" I said. "Why are you giving up without even trying to fight?"

"I have nothing to live for, death isn't so bad after all, it's actually giving me an escape from all my suffering."

"Nonsense!" I yelled. "You think you have suffered? Your suffering is absolutely nothing compared to what I've had to endure, do you know how many people died just so you could live? And now you want to throw away their sacrifice and not even try to live at all?"

"What are you saying Emma?" He asked looking confused.

"You said you have nothing to live for, well lemme give you a reason to live, your parents didn't just disapeared, they were murdered and my parents died that night trying to save your life that you are now so eager to throw away. So you must live and help me get revenge on the asshole that killed our parents."
