"Angel, what is this pale vampire talking about?" I asked with a confused tone.
"It's true. I can't lie to you." Angel replied with his head down trying to avoid my gaze.
That's another sudden realization after a few years of thinking that Angel is a demon. But he just told me that he's an angel earlier. I guess he's telling the truth. He is indeed an angel...An angel of death!
"So it means that you're with me because I'm already dead?" I asked in a panicked voice.
"Mary, the first time you saw me, I was supposed to be your soul to the afterlife. But I can't just do it!" He explained.
"That's why you have been protecting me all these years. I have been dead since high school!" I can't believe I'm saying that.
"Yeah. But not this time. You died in your sleep and I wasn't able to protect you." Angel informed me sadly.
I'm dead! As in I'm no longer alive. That's why my soul just travels to the other side. I thought I was just astral projecting in my dream. But now that I know who Angel's true self is, I understand now why the shaman tried to close my third eye.
The shaman just wants me to go peacefully and it's not possible since Angel keeps on delaying it. He doesn't want me to die and tried to stop all the incidents that should have caused my death. It's too much for me to deal with because I don't even know that I'm dead!
Dying in my sleep is a peaceful goodbye. That's why the ghosts in the bathroom are telling me that I'm already like them. But my soul goes to the other side so it means that I'm not going to turn into a ghost-like them. It's been twenty years since I was supposed to die. I must accept my fate and go with Angel.
"Fine. Let's go wherever you're taking me." I finally told him.
"Wait! What are you talking about? You will just let the angel of death take your soul?" The vampire asked.
"Who are you? I'm so confused about being dead. Don't add to it anymore!" I asked sarcastically.
"My name is Gregory and I'm a vampire." He introduced himself.
"Greg, we don't have much time. The gate in the afterlife will be closed in ten minutes." Angel interrupted us.
"There's no need to hurry. I'm going to take her with me anyway." Greg declared.
"What are you talking about? I'm already dead so I have to go." I reminded him.
Greg ignored me and continued to talk to Angel. They look like they are arguing but I can't hear their voices even if they are just near me. Maybe they can go on mute so that she can't hear them. They went in for about three minutes and then Angel smiled at me.
"I thought we were almost late. What are you still doing?" I asked him with an irritated tone.
"I'm sorry, Mary. I thought I could protect you until the end. Goodbye now…" Angel told me and just disappeared before I could say anything.
Angel left me with this annoying vampire. What am I supposed to do now? I don't even want to go back to the mortal realm anymore. If I do, I will become a ghost. But without the angel of death, I can't find the gate to the afterlife. I feel more confused now! Why would Angel disappear?
"So, I guess you have to come with me now," Greg informed me.
"Where are we going?" I asked, still irritated with him because Angel just left her.
"You need to go back to your body so that you will wake up now," Greg explained.
"I can't go back to my body. I'm already dead, remember?" I repeated it to him in case he didn't realize why I'm here.
"You're not dead, Mary! I just took a small bite on your neck to taste your blood. But you're not waking up so I followed you here. You can't die anymore because I made you immortal like myself!" Greg informed me.
"What? Why would you do that?" I asked in a very confused manner.
I'm not dead because I'm now immortal. Gregory bit my neck while I was sleeping. But when I regained consciousness, I'm already a ghost. Then Angel tried to bring me to the afterlife but suddenly disappeared after talking to Gregory. It makes more sense now why am I not dead even if I'm on the other side.
"I'm a vampire?" I said out loud.
"Yes, Mary! You're my destined companion. You have to go with me now so we can go home." Greg explained.
"I can't go with you. You're not even my boyfriend! My grandma will be so mad at me…" I reply while saying what I'm thinking out loud.
"Sure, I'm not. But I have chosen you to be my bride and a lifelong companion. That's why I made you immortal!" Greg informed me.
"Common, just leave me alone. I'm very confused now and I need to think!" I snapped at him.
"If you don't go back to your body now, you will die and get stuck in between realms. I guess I don't have a choice but to do this!" Greg explained and decided.
I didn't even have a chance to ask him what he's about to do to me. All he did was stare straight into my eyes and I was out in a trance. I forgot, vampires have a hypnotic gaze. Gregory used it on me and I can't do anything about it anymore.
"Let's have our first kiss now!" Greg whispered and kissed my lips passionately.
Even if I don't like what's happening, I just stood there and let him kiss me. But his lips are more intoxicating than his eyes. Before I knew it, I lost my consciousness. All I can see is darkness and I can also smell the scent of the roses that just made me give in to the sleepy spell the vampire had given me.
