It's a surprise marriage and I never thought that Gregory was serious about it. But since we're already in the chapel, I don't have a choice but to play along. There were about six vampires who attended our wedding ceremony. They all look like couples and are ready to catch me in case I change my mind about it.
I'm not sure if the priest is human though. But he looks stoned the entire time. Maybe Gregory hypnotized him or something. He's not pale to be a vampire so I concluded that he's human. I absent-mindedly touched my neck where Greg bit me while I was asleep from my dorm.
"Do you, Gregory Duke, take this woman as your lawfully wedded wife?" The priest asked in a robotic tone.
"I do!" Gregory replied to the priest.
"Rosemary Stone, do you take this man as your lawfully wedded husband?" The priest turned in my direction.
"Sure, whatever!" I replied that it made the other vampires whisper to each other.
Gregory looked at me with disapproval so I don't have a choice but to make my reply conventional. It's not like we're getting married for real. We are no longer alive nor dead so the holy sacrament of wedding doesn't apply to us.
"I do!" I answered again and that made the priest deliver his next line.
"By the power that vested in me, I now pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!" The priest's facial expression is still unchanged.
Then I realized that we were supposed to seal our marriage with a kiss. I almost fall from where I'm standing when Gregory leans closer to me. He's not going to miss this chance to take advantage of the moment.
All I can do is just close my eyes and allow him to do what he needs to do. It's an awkward situation for me since I haven't even known him for long. He just showed up to the other side to take me back to my body.
When his lips touched mine, I didn't expect myself to feel emotional. Maybe it's because he's a vampire. He can be as charming as he wants to be. That includes being a good kisser which I didn't expect him to be.
Sure, we already kissed when we were on the other side. He made sure that he would be imprinted on me. But I'm just going with the flow because it feels like I don't have any other choice. Maybe he also put a spell on me that's why I just walk down the aisle and marry him right there and then!
"Congratulations, Gregory! Finally, you were able to find your bride." The formal-looking male vampire greeted him.
The other vampires followed and offered their congratulatory greetings. I just stood there and stayed by Gregory's side and plastered a smile. Something seems to tell me what I have to do. Even if I don't feel like mingling with other vampires, I just keep on acting like a puppet.
To my horror, the vampire couple cornered the priest and bit his neck. They suck up to his neck to drink his blood. It looked like they had been waiting for the ceremony to be over. Out of nowhere, other vampires came over with blood bags at hand.
"Enjoy the feast everyone!" Gregory announced.
The vampires with blood bags with them started pouring it with a wine glass. I never noticed that they have put those glasses from the table on the side. It's a vampire wedding party in an old cathedral. The act made my skin crawl since I still have my humanity in me.
"Have a glass of premium blood, my love!" Gregory offered me.
As much as I wanted my stomach to turn, the sight of blood made it growled a little. That only means that I recognize it as food now that I'm already a vampire. I took the wine glass from his hand and started to drink its contents.
"Your wife looks very lovely, Greg!" The tall male vampire wearing a cloak said.
"Thank you, my friend! She's worth the wait." Gregory replied.
Even if I wanted to barge into their conversation, the taste of blood on my lips made me speechless. The taste is addicting, although it's already cold. I like the blood more from Gregory's neck. It's warm and more flavorful than what we're having now.
I'm already on my third glass of blood when Gregory announced that we have to leave already. I don't want to do that yet but he took my hand and climbed up the stairs. Maybe we will go back to that room where I woke up earlier. I'm getting curious about what's happening.
"Where are we going?" I asked, feeling surprised that I can do that now.
"We have to leave them with the party. It's not a good sight for newborns." Gregory replied.
"What do you mean?" Now I'm more curious.
"They will be hunting for humans. I don't want you to do the same. We only hunt animals." Gregory explained.
Before we entered the room, I stared at him for a few moments. He's different from other vampires and I like how he stands by his principles. If he's not hunting for humans to suck their blood dry, I should not do the same.
Not that I intend to hurt anyone since I was just human a few days ago. As Gregory's wife, I'm going to support him with that. We can just hunt for animals or buy some bags of blood. That will help them survive anyway.
"How long did you have to wait for me?" I asked once we were already inside.
"What do you mean?" Gregory asked.
"The tall guy who greeted you earlier complimented me. Then you said I'm worth the wait. What's that all about?" I explained.
"Oh, that! I've searched for a long time for a companion. Thankfully, I've found you!" Gregory replied and hugged me.
"How long?" I asked.
"Very long time! About 500 years." He said and my jaw dropped.
