Chapter 20

Camille~

I start pacing back and forth trying to figure out what any of this could mean. Lucas cheats on Lia but then has no memory of what happened which doesn't make sense since I saw it with my own eyes. Movement out of the corner of my eye grabs my attention. A girl, maybe 2 years older than us was lurking in the trees watching Jackson and Lucas, not even noticing my eyes on her. I gasp as it hits me, she's the girl I saw with Lucas in the locker room! She's the skank he cheated on Lia with. That's not the only thing about her that peeves me, her eyes are a deep red, a vampire.

Before we left the pack, Lia made a temporary link between Jackson and I. At the time I thought it was unnecessary but now I couldn't be more grateful. "Don't look now but the girl I saw with Lucas is hiding in the trees, watching you. She's a vampire too so maybe there's more to this than we thought." I see Jackson grow angry but he doesn't move. He keeps his eyes on Lucas, making sure the girl doesn't know that he knows she's there. Where is she?" I hear him through the link and I know he's planning on attacking, "she's right behind you but don't do anything yet. You're the faster one between the two of us so I'll sneak behind her and flush her out, distracting her. Then you grab her when her back is turned." he subtly nods and I know he's on board. I walk towards the parking lot, away from her line of vision, and enter the forest from behind her. Being a werewolf, a powerful one, gives me heightened senses and makes me light on my feet. I duck under branches and jump over treetrunks before sneaking up to the foot of the tree she's perched in. The sight of her makes my claws extend and I have to fight back my wolf. I crouch down low before leaping up and tackling her flush out of the tree. The moment her back hits the ground she starts attacking me, clawing at my arms trying to get free. Her fangs elongate and she tries to bite my neck but I kick her slash her leg with my claws, making her hiss out of pain and rip the sleeves of my shirt, trying to hurt me. I ignore the pain and kick her off me with all my might, sending her flying into the wall with a satisfying thud. She gets ready to attack again when Jackson comes out of freaking nowhere and pins her to the brick wall so hard it crumbles under the force.

I get up and walk towards them, "You could've stepped in earlier you know! Look at my leg, that'll take weeks t-" I voice dies in my throat when I see the look in Jackson's eyes. It's a look I'd know anywhere, recognition. She's still fighting in his hold, clawing and cursing him, trying to get free. He tightens his hold on her throat and his eyes grow colder every minute he stares into her hateful eyes. "Jackson, who is this?"

He stares into her eyes with so much hatred I'm surprised she doesn't just burst into flames. The bitch has the audacity to smirk, "I'm his twin sister, Julia. Hey there, Jackie, it's been a while." Jackson hisses at her while I gasp at the revelation. Lucas cheated on Amelia with Julia, who happens to be Jackson's sister. I shake my head in confusion, it's like we're living in a damn romance novel.

I finally look between the two and start to see the similarities, they both have deep red eyes, although hers are a bit darker, her hair is jet black where his has a slight blue-ish tint to it and they both have sharp features, prominent cheekbones, and full lips. Jackson and Julia both hiss at each other, while Julia still fights against Jackson's hold. I decide to find out the truth before he kills her, "Okay, Julia, you're going to tell us why you were in that locker room with Lucas and why he doesn't seem to remember about that. You're going to tell us that and everything else we want to know or my friend, Jackson here, is going to make sure we see the light drain from your eyes." I hiss out at her with as much venom laced in my voice as possible.

She doesn't even bat an eyelash," Nice try, he couldn't kill me if he tried. A friend of mine, darling little spell caster that she is, made sure of that. Ever heard of a protection spell? Well, let's just say it'll take you a thousand lifetimes to break this one."

I step back in shock. Why would a witch be working with a vampire? I thought they hated each other. None of this makes sense and the more I find out the less any of this seems to fit together. She goes on about how nifty the spell is, saying that we'll never be able to break it. I mostly tune her out when something she says grabs my attention, " - and I'm sure he'll be so happy that his plan is wor-" she shuts her mouth, realizing what she said, hoping that no one caught on, but I caught on and slowly a piece of the puzzle snaps into place. I growl at her, pushing Jackson away and pushing her back against the wall so hard her neck snaps back. My eyes glow golden brown as I pull out the hidden dagger from my boot and stab it into the brick wall right next to her head. I smirk as her eyes grow wide with recognition and then fear, "We-where did you get that? It's a myth, it shouldn't exist!" her voice rises with every word and every ounce of fear I see poring into her eyes. A wicked smile makes its way onto my face, she's right to be scared. Inches from her face, embedded in the brick, is the dagger of Ambrogio, the very first vampire. The dagger was created by the moon goddess Selene when her love, Ambrogio, couldn't control his bloodlust and the dagger then served as protection from him. The dagger itself was made of pure silver infused with vervain, a vampire's greatest weakness, and blessed by Apollo, the Sun God.

"Now listen here you little bitch, you're going to tell me exactly what I need to know or so help me goddess I will drive this dagger right through your cold, dark heart"
