Yoongi had scales as blue as sapphires that shined like the stars. Hoseok had scales as red as blood and shimmered like silver glitter. Yoongi was pale and beautiful, as white as the shells that littered the ocean floor. Hoseok was dark and glamorous, the same shade as the boards of old wooden shipwrecks.

Yoongi lived in a beautiful cove made of coral. Pink and blue surrounded him, his home covered in objects he found, shells, artifacts from old shipwrecks, gifts from his friends. He loved to explore the sea, looking for objects from the humans. One day as he was exploring a wreck, he found a necklace. The chain was simple and made of small, fragile links. There was a single pendant, a bright red ruby.

Yoongi wore it everywhere he went. When he found it, it was sparkling like glitter and he could only think of it as fate. He placed it around his neck and never took it off. He knew it was a sign of something, but he was never quite sure of what.

Hoseok lived in a dark cave, algae on the jagged walls. Shades of green and brown surrounded him. His home was filled with objects that he found from the deep sea shipwrecks nearby. He would only leave his cave sporadically. As he was exploring a newer wreck, one only a few decades old, he found a ring. When he saw it it seemed as if it was calling to him.

The ring had a simple silver band with a single jewel, a blue sapphire. Hoseok would wear it everywhere he went, knowing it was a sign. He has yet to discover what it means but he knows it's very important.

One day, Hoseok decided to leave his cave to go explore. He found a wreck he'd never seen before. The ship was large and grandiose, the inside covered in gold and lots of fancy furniture and decor. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a quick flash of blue. Out of sheer curiosity, he decided to follow it. He rounded the corner to see a boy admiring a large painting. When he caught sight of Hoseok he stared in shock. Hoseok noticed his necklace, it was shining brightly, nearly blinding. He looked down at the ring and saw it doing the same. The boy seemed to notice this as well. With a couple of flicks of his tail, he was face-to-face with Hoseok.

"Hello, my name is Yoongi," he said, looking at the probably once plush carpet beneath them.

"Hello Yoongi, my name is Hoseok, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," Hoseok replied with a small smile.

"I always knew that this necklace had something to do with fate, and now I'm sure."

"Me too, it was always apparent to me but I was never sure what it meant."

"I think it means that we're soulmates," Yoongi quipped with a slight chuckle.

"I believe so."

Yoongi never took off his necklace and Hoseok never took off his ring, though they see each other every day it's as if it's for the first time. Eyes filled with adoration, tails swaying gently, jewels glowing brighter than the sun ever could. Scales as red as blood and blue as sapphires, a sapphire, and a ruby respectively, worn forever, the things that will always bring them back to one another, no matter when or where.
