You arrive at the town of Gilbert a day later. Half the town is in disrepair. Many of the citizens are homeless or living in horrible conditions. Due to the bandit raids, food prices have skyrocketed. They're so high that many of the people can't even afford a single meal, and several merchants are going out of business as a result. More than one beggar approaches you, asking if you can spare a Copper Piece or two.

Sir Robert sends a rider up ahead to make sure he's registered for the tournament. He buys out all the rooms at an inn near the tournament, which is empty anyway. Before he goes to rest in his room, he tells you to make sure that Midnight is well rested for tomorrow.

You check on Midnight in the stables. Varys is already combing her and feeding her some carrots. Once you see that everything is in order, you go to bed, exhausted from the journey.
