New Target

Leon was on the verge of exploding in anger.

An old woman suddenly came and started yelling at him for no reason. Not only did she cuss Leon, but she also said nasty things about his family. Normally, he couldn't care less, but to Leon, she was insulting Layla— because Layla was the one and only family he had left.

Leon was holding a handrail while sitting, and it started cracking because of his rage.

He took a deep breath and was about to do something to the old woman, but an office worker wearing a grey suit and blue tie came in between.

"There is an empty seat," he said to the old woman.

The old lady cussed Leon one more time and sat on the empty seat. But the man, however, stood in front of Leon as there was no other open space to stand.

He looked at Leon and averted his gaze after noticing his glare.

After standing about 20 minutes on the train and getting pushed back and forth by the passengers, the man looked at Leon and said, "You should have given your seat to that old woman."

"Why?" Leon asked with a confused and puzzled look on his face as he furrowed his brows in annoyance.

"Because… She is old?" the man wondered.

"And?" Leon asked with the same look on his face.

"So you should respect old people," the man stated with a troubled look on his face. He was having a hard time after standing for so long, especially because he had a fever, but his boss forced him to come to the office.

"She is the one who started cussing me," Leon remarked and gritted his teeth to calm himself down.

"If you had let her sit, then she wouldn't have done that," the man replied.

Leon knitted his brows and uttered in a solemn voice with a puzzled smile on his face: "I missed the part where that's my problem."

"Well…" The man glanced around him with a troubled look on his face and nodded. "That's my station," the man uttered and moved to the door to leave the train. He called Leon and said, "You see, people get crazier as they grow old. So sometimes, you just gotta compromise to save yourself from unnecessary trouble."

After saying that, the man left in a hurry.

Leon pondered for a while and wondered, "What about those who are already crazy?"

After five minutes, Leon's station arrived, and he got off the train. Fortunately, the college was only five minutes away from the station, so Leon didn't have to take a bus or a taxi to get there. Although the college was paying for Leon's transportation bill, so he couldn't care less.

After reaching the college campus, he saw thousands of students walking around, doing their things, busy in their own world.

"So many people… so many to kill…" College was the best place for Leon to control the monster inside him. He had promised himself that he wouldn't hurt anyone, as long as they didn't mess with him.

Leon took the elevator and walked to the corridor where his class was supposed to be.

"First lecture is on biochemistry. Class 303," he muttered as he recalled the timetable in his mind.

Leon glanced around as he walked and checked the class numbers. "311. 307. 304. There it is, in the corner… sigh."

Leon entered the classroom, and the first thing he saw was a huge projector ringing loudly with the speakers.

The professor teaching the class was an old woman, the same old woman from the train. However, she was wearing different clothes, and Leon was sure he didn't see the old woman on the train getting off at the station.

"Is this… another woman?' Leon wondered with a visible confusion on his face.

The professor looked at Leon and then looked at her tablet. "And.. who are you supposed to be?" she asked.

"Leon," Leon answered.

All the stupids (students) in the class turned silent and looked at Leon with a surprised look on their faces. Even the teacher, who had a poker face all this time, was freaking out.

"..." Leon was even more surprised than everyone in the class. He didn't know why they all were reacting like that. Then, Leon remembered something.

'I did mention my name when I killed the president, but it was just a whisper. Did everyone hear it too? Even if they did, I had my mask on, so it's impossible to read my lips too.'

The professor cleared her throat and asked with a curious look on her face, "Are you really that Leon?"

Leon couldn't help but doubt himself. If they had truly heard his name, then Leon had no other choice to let the monster loose.

"Are you truly the Leon who topped the entrance exam by a huge margin?" the professor asked again.

'Oh! That's what it was.' Leon sighed in relief. However, he was a little disappointed.

His identity as a secret killer was still safe.

"Yes. I am that Leon," Leon replied with a nod and glanced around the room to see the reaction of the stupids present in the class.

"I see." The professor wrote something on her tablet as she said, "You hadn't informed the college about anything, so we assumed you must have enrolled into any overseas college for a better education. You are a prodigy, after all."

If Leon had attended school like normal kids, he might have become a prodigy with the help of his perfect memory. However, he didn't like the sound of it, so he wasn't interested.

Leon was only interested in one thing, and that was to sate his bloodthirst.

The professor asked Leon to take a seat, but when Leon looked around, he saw all the seats were occupied.

Leon walked forward on the stairs and eventually saw an empty seat in the corner. He was walking slowly, but when he noticed another student— who had just entered the classroom, was also aiming for the seat, Leon started running.

Leon was focused on the student and seat while running. But suddenly, he fell down.

When he looked back, he saw a boy with blonde hair had purposefully tripped Leon by poking his leg out when he was running.

Leon clenched his fists and sat on the empty seat in the corner. He placed his hand on the desk and rested his head on it. Then, he smirked.

Leon had found a new target.
