Chapter twenty eight Easter

It was now Easter Monday and Faith was now two months old. Janice was in the kitchen cleaning up and humming to herself while Mrs. Melissa and Miss Mona went to deliver her pastries and a big birthday cake that she finished that morning with their help.

Janice opened the fridge and smiled as she notice the cheesecake she and Ty made Saturday when they came back from Faith's christening. She bites her lips as she remembered how Tyler had paste cake on her nose as a joke.

Then shudder as she remembered how scared she was to leave the house. She knew her child had to be christened but was scared to death of going outside. Ty and his entire family tried to soothe her fears but to no avail.

Finally, after what seemed like forever they finally got her in the vehicle she came home from the hospital in and again three of his cousins' who was in a vehicle of their own drive in front of their vehicle and three drives behind in another.

But that didn't stop her from shaking with fear and looking behind her every few seconds. Ty and Caleb then began showing her how to use the digital camera to take photos of the christening and she didn't realize how much they had distracted her until they pull into the church parking lot.

Walking into the church a part of her felt like royalty surrounded by her protectors and another part of her felt guilty for putting them through all that, not that they mind of course. They took their role very seriously. She wanted to leave right after the christening but they convinced her to stay for the rest of the service. Caleb and Tyler didn't leave her side throughout the rest of the service.

She knew she didn't stand a chance with Ty but it was obvious to her, Miss Alice, and Miss Mona that she had fallen deeply in love with him.

The whole family was at Faith's christening except for Mr. Jackson who had to attend a meeting but he was the one that took her and faith to the hospital for Faith's six weeks clinic checkup, along with her protection detail of course; at which time he expresses just how sorry he was about her test results.

She was putting the cake mixer together the way Mrs. Melissa had shown her when Anna walked into the kitchen. "Hi, Janice." She said with a bright smile. "Hi, Anna how are you." "Oh I'm fabulous thank you; wow, you look radiant today." Anna compliment her and after taking a slice of chocolate cake and a slice of cheesecake, a muffin, and a glass of milk she took a seat at the counter.

"It's amazing that you can eat all that and still look so good; you have got a great shape; unlike me." Janice mumbles. "Oh come on, I would pay to have your assets; those water coconuts and that J. Lo butt; please; the rest is just baby fat and since we've already gotten the go-ahead from your doctor we'll be hitting the gym every day." She said taking a big bite of her muffin then burst out laughing when she saw Janice looking down at herself with a puzzled look on her face.

"What water coconuts and J Lo butt?" Janice asks twisting trying to look at her butt. "Oh trust me, you're packing you just don't know it yet. You only need to lose about twenty or maybe thirty pounds and you will have the perfect body." She said with her mouth full.

"By the way, Cousin Sandra will be coming here tomorrow to see you; she was supposed to come back a few days ago but had to stay longer because of business." She said licking her fingers.

It truly amazed Janice how much the girl could eat; where did all that food go because it sure didn't show on her. "She's coming back today and she can't wait to meet you." Anna continues. "And I can't wait to meet her; I've heard so much about her; it's like I already know her."

I arrived home at about 8:00 pm Monday night, walk into the kitchen and greet my parents who were packing some donuts in a box. "Hi mom, dad." "Hi son, how are you?" Dad asks. "Busy, tired, but very excited about my new work options," I said stretching.

"Hungry?" Mom asks. "yeah actually I am." "Then sit and have some red peas soup." She said putting a bowl of soup in the microwave. "Now if you're not too tired, you could tell us more about your classes and your roles in the OR while you eat," Dad said

Twenty minutes later I sigh in contentment and lean back in my chair. I would've been finished a long time ago but I got caught up in talking about my work, as usual, right, yeah I know. "Here's a donut for dessert." Mom said handing me one.

I was on my way upstairs when dad ran up to me. "Um son, did Kayla say anything to you about leaving the country?" He asks. "No, why?" " I've been at the house a few times last week and she wasn't there and when I called her, she said she was off the Island for a few days." He said. "Okay then, I'll call her and see what's up," I said biting into the donut.

I went to my room, put my bag on the sofa, and took out my phone and call Kevin. "Hey cuz, what's up?" He asks. "Are you guys still monitoring Kayla's movements?" I ask. "Yeah, we are, what's up?" "Do you know where she's right now?"

"Yeah, at her friend's house in Portmore, she has been hiding out there for over a week now." He said with a chuckle. "Why is she hiding?" "Well because she doesn't want anyone to know that one of her lovers swells up her face, the same one that came to see you." "Is she alright, the baby….?" "Don't worry, she's alright, she just doesn't want anyone especially you to see her face right now." He laughs.

"Alright man, thanks." "No problem cuz." He said ending the call. I then dialed Kayla's number, she answer on the third ring. "Hi." Was all I could say as I took a deep breath? "Hi, baby, what's up?" "I heard you left the country, where are you?" I ask. "I'm in the states, you said you needed time to sort out how you still feel about me, so I'm giving you time." She said.

"Why didn't you tell me you were leaving?" "Didn't think you would care." "Kay, where are you exactly?" I ask again hoping she would tell me the truth. "Baby I told you I'm in the states, the baby and I are fine alright, I just needed to get away, I'll be back soon, I love you." She said. So much for hoping. "Alright, take care of yourself," I said ending the call. I then went and take a shower then went to check up on Janice and Faith. She was sitting in bed watching television while breastfeeding Faith.

A wide smile spread across her face as soon as she saw me but an overwhelming sense of sadness came over me as soon as I sat next to her and again I couldn't stop my tears from falling. "Bad day?" She asks softly. I shake my head no. "Want to talk about it?" She asks again.

"Sorry to disturb you…I'm….just gonna go..sorry." I said getting up and walking towards the door. "Please don't." She shuffle off the bed and came towards me and place a sleeping Faith in my arms, as soon as I held the child a sense of calm came over me, soothing the pain that was coursing through me.

She then wraps her arms around me and Faith and I wrap my arms around her and rest my chin on her head. And to my surprise, she began singing softly.

Lean on me, when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend, I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long, till I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on.

My arm tightened around her as she continues singing and rocking me gently from side to side. When she was finished she look up at me and smile. "Thank you." I choked out. "Hey you're not alone, if you ever need to talk or just a shoulder to lean on, I'm right here, plus you have your entire family behind you." She said.

"I know, it's just sometimes…" "The pain, disappointment, regret, and betrayal seem too much to bear?" She asks finishing my sentence for me. I nod my head yes. "I know." She said resting her head on my chest. "Come on, watch Discovery Health with me." She said leading me back to the bed.

Susan sighs heavily as she knocked on Kayla's door. She had been avoiding the girl's calls and texts since her conversation with Tyler. She told Martin what Tyler told her, at one point he was very angry at Kayla because he knew without a doubt that his wife was a faithful person but then to her surprise he once again began making excuses for the lying girl and on top of that he then asks her if she could keep checking in on Kayla to make sure that she was taking care of herself and her unborn child. Her heart was heavy as she stood at the door and she had actually turned back twice, then turned around again and continued walking towards Kayla's house.

Kayla opened her door with a nasty smirk on her face. "Well look who decides to finally show up." She said; hands on her hips. "Are you going to invite me in?" Susan asks. "Suit yourself," Kayla said walking away from the door. "So how are you and the baby?" Susan asks in a dry stiff tone.

Kayla rolled her eyes and leaned against the sofa. "Well as you can see I'm doing great, I'm fully four months today and he's healthy, so if there is nothing else…." "You know what." Susan snaps cutting her off. "I didn't have to come over here so do me a damn favor and drop the attitude." She said angrily.

"Alright, alright, I'm just mad at you for taking so long to come visit me." Kayla pouts. "It's not like you are lonely, you've Trish don't you, and tons of male friends," Susan said scornfully.

"Great you haven't even been here for five minutes and you're already judging me," Kayla said defensively. "I'm not judging you but considering what you said about me maybe I should." "What are you talking about?" Kayla asks looking into one of the bags that Susan put on the table. "You told Tyler that you cheated on him because I was cheating on Martin; why Kayla? You know for a fact that I would never be unfaithful to my husband."

"Oh please, don't take what I said to Ty seriously because right now I would say and do practically anything to get my man back," Kayla said biting into an Apple. "Oh I see and I guess that includes making me out to be just as unfaithful as you?" Susan asks angrily.

Kayla sat on the sofa and put her feet on a round cushion. "I'm sorry Susan I guess I wasn't thinking when I said it." "Yeah right; seeing as though you said it more than once; I don't believe that.

The truth is you're willing to say and do anything to get what you want and you'll use anyone that crosses your path to accomplishing that." Susan said between clenched teeth. "Judging me again Susan?" Kayla drawls.

Susan took a deep breath and folds her hands in a fist as she stood and looks down at Kayla. "You can play the victim all you want Kay but let me ask you a question; if you're so determined to continue cheating why do you want Tyler back?"

"I'm not cheating on him anymore," Kayla said folding her arms across her chest. "Oh really, so who was the man that passed me at your gate and told me that he was the father of your child? Or the one I saw you with in the supermarket? Or the one that always walks around with the big weed cigarette behind his ears and who was also driving your car two days ago?" Susan ask.

"They are just my friends," Kayla said shrugging her shoulders. "Friends Kayla? How stupid do you think I am? Why don't you just let Tyler go?" Susan asks in a frustrated tone. "Like hell, I will." Kayla smiled wickedly.

"There's no way I'm letting that man go; not now; not ever." "Yeah as selfish as you're; I should've known you would say something like that, anyway I've to go, I'll see you soon and for God's sake get someone to clean your house; it stinks."
