Chapter fifty six Get it on

Fabian enters Caleb's room Saturday morning and notices that he was already dressed. "Wise choice brother, now I need you to travel with mom so that you won't get any idea to ditch." "I understand but I can't this morning because I need to go see my girl first." "Oh, I don't think so brother." "I need to go see her before I go to church okay, she called me earlier and she sounded very upset I just need to make sure everything is alright." "You have so many women I don't know how you keep track of them all but alright, fine, go, I've to get to the gas station, I'll see you later."

Caleb enters Maya's apartment and found her curled up on her sofa in her living room crying. "Hey what's wrong?" He asks pulling her into his arms. "I'm so sorry Caleb, I didn't mean for this to happen, please don't be angry at me please." She sobs hysterically. "Calm down and talk to me, what's going on?" "You're going to leave me, I don't want to lose you; baby please don't leave me." She continues crying.

"I'm not going anywhere Maya, talk to me." He said in a calm tone. "We've only been together for a few months and we're both still in university and working at the same time, we're not ready to be parents Caleb, we're just not ready." "Whoa, parents? What do you mean by that?" "I'm pregnant Caleb, my menstruation was late, very late actually so I took a home pregnancy test and it say positive, so I went to the doctor and they confirmed it." She sobs.

"Bloody hell." He said running his hands through his hair. "I'm sorry Caleb." "I thought you were on the pill and I used a condom every time, so I don't understand how this could happen." "I don't know Caleb, I'm on the pill but we didn't exactly use a condom every time, I can think of a few times where we got carried away and did it without protection." She said still crying.

"And that was where the pill was supposed to come in." He states. "I know but I guess it didn't, I'm sorry. This baby is going to change everything, I'm going to have to drop out of University." She said in a panic. "Alright slow down, one step at a time, how far along are you?" "I'm eight weeks." "Alright so we've some time, you can remain in university until you're about six months then you can finish your course online and go in for your graduation." He said pacing.

'Does this mean you want the baby?" She asks wiping her eyes. "If this child is mine then yes I do want it, my parents didn't raise me to skip out on my responsibilities." He states. "If it's yours? I was a virgin when I met you Caleb and I haven't been with anyone else." She said sounding hurt.

"That's all well and good but I'm going to need some proof, the sooner the better, on the other hand, you're going to have to go get booked as early as next week and we'll take it from there." "So you're not angry with me for not protecting myself better, because I am." She said with her head down. "No point, life happens, we just have to roll with it. Now I've some things I need to go take care of, I'll call you later alright." "Okay, I love you." She said kissing his lips. "Love you too, bye." He said and left.

Later that afternoon Tyler entered the lunch area of his church and stop in surprise as he saw Kayla's mother feeding a baby. "Did I miss something?" He asks taking a seat beside her and giving Faith her bottle. "Hi Tyler, how are you?" She asks tiredly. "I'm fine, but what's going on here?" He asks looking at the baby. "Oh, meet my grandson Tyrone, Kayla brought him and flung him down on my bed a few days ago and demands that I take care of him not to mention she was extremely angry at the fact that you're still helping me." She said rocking him but the child wouldn't stop fussing and he kept pushing away the bottle that she was trying to give him.

"He has been fighting a cold for about two days now, poor thing, I took him to the doctor and she said he was okay otherwise but I can't seem to get him to settle down." "Give him to me and you hold Faith." He suggests. She did as he asks and he immediately began working his charm on the child. At first, his charm didn't seem to be working but after a while, the child became calmer and Ty took the bottle from Mrs. Watson's hand and put it in his mouth, at first he didn't take it but as Ty began humming he latches onto it and began sucking greedily.

"Wow, you're a natural, you have an amazing gift and you're going to make a great father." She said playing with Faith. Thank you, and don't worry he'll be okay, he knows that his mother isn't around him and he misses her, so it will probably take a while for him to settle down and be comfortable around you and the girls. So why did she leave him with you?" Ty asks smiling down at Tyrone.

"She said she doesn't want him because he's not yours and that you're throwing her out of her home and she has nowhere to live, she said that if I didn't take him she was going to leave him on a church step or something." She explains. "What is his last name?" He asks as he watches the child drift off to sleep; he then puts the child on his shoulder and gently rubs his back.

"Well since she couldn't find the real father she named him after you and gave him your last name which I don't think is appropriate and I plan on changing it as soon as I can." She said sounding embarrassed. "She gave him my last name?" He asks in shock. "Yes, but don't worry, I'll fix it." "What will you change it to?" He asks. "I don't know, to mine I guess." "That's okay too but don't, I don't mind him having my last name, I've wanted him ever since I found out she was pregnant, and he would've been mine if….." He stops and took a deep shaky breath and bit down hard on his lips to hide his emotions. "I'm so sorry she hurt you Tyler, you know she had the gall to tell me that if it wasn't for her you wouldn't be helping me, so I should be grateful to her for bringing you into our lives." "She actually said that?" "Oh yeah," "Well she was dead wrong because you're my church sister and I care about what happens to you and your girls and it has absolutely nothing to do with her." He said laying the child in his arms.

"Whatever your reasons are I thank you from the bottom of my heart." "You know, I think her giving you this child was the best thing she could have ever done for him, at least now he'll get to grow up in the house of God and he'll get a good education." "It won't be easy but I'll do my best." "Just remember, you're not alone, whenever you need help just call me okay." He said putting Faith to sit on the floor as he place the sleeping child in her arms. "Come on, let's go back inside so we can catch today's message." He said taking up faith and the bags.

After the morning service, Caleb told Janice to ride with his mom because he needed to speak to his little brother in private. "So what's up with you?" Ty asks as he pulls out of the parking lot. "You're asking me what's up? What's up with you?" Caleb asks. "I thought you were going to get it on with Janice," Caleb said with frustration.

"I did," Ty state. "You did what?" Caleb asks annoyed. "I did get it on with her." "And what exactly is your definition of getting it on brother?" "We made love alright," Ty said impatiently. "You did! When?" "A few weeks ago." "And?… for God's sake man, spit it out already." Caleb urges. "The next morning she told me that we can't be together because she can't give me a child and she won't stand in the way of me being with someone who can." "Bloody hell, you're kidding right?" Caleb asks running his hands over his face.

"No, and to tell the truth as much as I love her I also know she is right." "That's a load of bull, I saw the look on your face that night when you walk in and saw her in my arms, now you of all people know how precious time is; you're so in love with her right now that I don't think you could even think of been with someone else and I know for a fact that you wouldn't be able to survive seeing her in the arms of another man." Caleb states.

"And another thing your last breakup wasn't even half as bad as this one and you were on suicide watch and look at you now, after everything that Kayla did to you, you're happy, laughing and playing around." He said punching Ty's shoulder. "The God honest truth is, you wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for Janice and Faith, so please do me a favor and don't let her slip through your fingers bro." Caleb states.

"All this advice from someone who changes his girls every twenty-four hours?" Ty snorts. "Okay I deserve that; I'll be the first to admit that I haven't been much of a role model for you or Anna but what you and Janice have is real. You've both been through hell and you both deserve to be happy, preferably with each other, hint…hint." Caleb laughs.

"Now, on the other hand, I need a favor," Caleb said taking a deep breath. "Oh boy, what is it now?" Ty asks sounding worried. "I need you to oversee a paternity test. Maya said she is pregnant and that I'm the father, I just need to be sure before I say anything to mom and dad." He said.

"Okay then, I can understand why you would rather not wait for nine months to know the truth, I did and it almost killed me, so yeah, just tell me when and where."

Food for thought

God does not always answer yes

To every prayer I pray;

Sometimes he answers, "No, my child,

I have a better way."
