Chapter fifty nine Honors

Three days later Ty enters his locker room and greets his friends with a wide smile. "Look who's glowing with happiness Jessica said laughing and handing him two bags. "Happy birthday T.J," They said in unison. "Thanks, guys." He said looking into the bags. "So how are the wedding plans coming along?" Jason asks,

"Quite nicely actually, but since neither of my brothers will allow the other to be my best man, I'm wondering if you'll do me the honors?" Ty asks Jason. "Me wow, sure I would be honored man." "Thanks I knew I could count on you." "And your marriage counseling?" Jessica asks. "That begins tomorrow." He said putting his bag in his locker. His pager went off and he checks it. "I'm needed to assists in surgery, so I'll be seeing you guys at my birthday slash engagement party tonight right?" Ty asks. "What kind of question is that wild horses couldn't keep us away?" Jason replied. "Good later then." He said running from the room.

Janice smiles to herself as memories of the previous night flashed through her mind, Ty's engagement/ Birthday party was spectacular, never had she ever expected to experience something like that. The last time she felt so loved and accepted was when she was with her parents and after so much pain and disappointments she had once again found it with Ty and his parents, she was very grateful to God for bringing them into her life and she just couldn't help admiring the way the sun glistens off her ring.

Ty had forgotten his phone at home this morning and she had decided to take it to him before going to class, the driver couldn't find a parking spot near the entrance so he park further away, he was about to get out and follow her but she stops him because she wasn't planning on staying long.

She was almost to the entrance when someone pushes her extremely hard and slams her back against a car knocking the wind out of her, she felt as if someone had put a bag over her head because she literally couldn't breathe, and when the person began speaking that was when she recognizes the voice as Kayla's. "Who the hell do you think you are, do you really think you can replace me bitch, I took a Birthday present to my man last night and he totally ignores me because of you." She sneered coldly.

"What, you think that you can just crawl into town and snag yourself a rich man, no way in hell, take this off." She said grabbing Janice's finger. "I'm the only one that's allowed to wear Ty's ring." "Stop, get off of me," Janice cried trying to push her away. Kayla was so focused on getting the ring off that she didn't see Caleb running towards her until he grabs her in the back of her neck and yanked her away from Janice.

"Get your filthy hands off her!" Caleb growls as Janice gasps for breath. "My ring…she has ….my ring." She gasps. He turns back to Kayla and saw her running across the parking lot. "Stay with her!" He shouts at Maya as he took off after Kayla. Kayla glances back and ran right into the driver. "Stop her!" He shouts to the driver. "What the hell is wrong with you?' Caleb shouts at the driver as Kayla struggles to get out of his grasp. "I'm sorry sir, she told me she would be fine and I was to wait here." He explains. "Fine, how can she be fine with this lunatic running around?" Caleb barked grabbing the ring from Kayla. "Bring her!" He orders, she will not get away with this.

Maya was still trying to get a crying, shaking Janice off the ground when Caleb walks back over to them. "Is she okay?" He asks in concern. "I don't know, she won't get up." "She's bleeding." A woman shouts from across the way. Caleb lifts her in his arms and ran towards the entrance of the hospital. "Put that piece of trash in the waiting room and watch her until the police get here." Caleb orders without breaking his stride.

A doctor rushes towards them as he enters the Emergency room, she told him to wait while they examine her, Maya puts her arm around his shoulder as he sends a text to his family. "This can't be happing, not now, damn it why can't Ty catch a break, she has to be okay." "We need to find your brother." She states. "No, not yet, I need to hear what the doctor says first, every time things seem to be going good for him something bad always happens, I just don't understand why?" Caleb said in frustration.

Half an hour later the doctor came out and Caleb jumps to his feet. "Please tell me she's going to be fine." He begs. "She and her baby will be okay, thanks to you." The doctor said. "She and her…what…wait did you say, baby?" Caleb asks in shock. "You did know she was pregnant, yes?" The doctor asks.

"No, no I didn't, we were told she couldn't have children," Caleb said. "Hmm that's odd considering the nature of her pregnancy; she should have been experiencing symptoms from about four weeks." She said checking her chart. "How far along is she?" He asks. "Let me see, she's a little over two months." The doctor said. "She was pretty freaked out more about who she thought was attacking her than the attack itself." The doctor explains.

"She keeps mentioning a Leon." "Yes, her ex, he had beaten her very badly a few months ago." "Yeah, we noticed that, she will be placed in the high-risk department and she will be monitored around the clock for the next few days." The doctor said.

"Can we see her?" Maya asks. "Only for a few minutes, we had to sedate her so she will be a little out of it, I'll be back soon." She said after showing them to the room Janice was in. "Well, well, well, aren't you just full of surprises." He said to a sleepy Janice as they both took a seat opposite her bed.

Tyler was on his way to the locker room two hours later when he ran into Jessica. "Hey T.J, you've been in there a while, how's the patient?" "Well it was touch and go for a while but I think she will pull through this," Ty said tiredly. "Good so want to go grab some lunch?" Jessie asks.

"Want to share mine?" He asks with a smile. "Yours?" She asks raising her brow. "Oh yeah, my fiancée is good like that." He said handing her his lunch bag then began searching through his other bag for his phone. "Oh, sweet mother of pastry." She said in amazement looking into the bag. "Damn, I think I left my phone at home." He said with a sigh.

"Can I borrow yours? Janice must be in class, so I'll call Caleb, maybe he's home." "Wow, Janice has some serious cooking skills," Jessica said biting into one of Janice's flitters. "You can say that again." He smiles heaping some of the fruit into his mouth. "I don't think we even have to go to the canteen." She laughs as she starts on a muffin. "Thanks to my fiancée, she knows how to keep a man well-fed." "I've noticed, you're putting on weight, and are those muscles, Nah, I must need glasses." She laughs poking his arm.

"Very funny I'll have you know, I'm lifting weights and these right here are the results."He flexes his arms and laughs while taking her phone and dialing Caleb's number. "Hey, Caleb…um did you…." "Ty oh thank God you're out of the O.R, I need you to come to the maternity high-risk department, room 2a, right now." "What's going on?" Ty asks biting into an apple. "I'll explain everything when you get here, now hurry," Caleb ordered. "I'm on my way," Ty said ending the call and handing the phone back to Jessie.

"What's going on?" Jessica asks. "I don't know but Caleb wants me to come to the maternity ward." "Maybe it's his girlfriend, she's pregnant isn't she?" "Yeah, I'm going to see what's up." He said heading towards the door. "Okay keep me posted and thanks for lunch." "I'll and you're welcome."
