Chapter 216 Never there

"Now tell me, what are our three steps in dealing with problems?" She asks. Ty sighs and groans before speaking. "Talk about it, pray about it, then leave it to God." He said running his free hand over his face. "Good, now step one, tell me about it. What's bothering you?"

"The fact that I'm never there for you." He snorts in frustration as he leans back in his chair. "Love of my life say what now?" She asks in wide eye shock. Inside Ty felt like he had let her down again by not being there for her when she was in danger but he couldn't help laughing at the way she said that phrase.

"It's true kitten, I'm never there for you, not when you really need me." He said with his head down. "I wasn't there when you crashed your car, when my cousin attacked you, when Kayla attacked you, or earlier today." He mumbled. "I strongly disagree, I distinctly remember you hitting your cousin in the head with a lamp and Kayla didn't get close enough to me to attack me remember?"

"She did when you were pregnant with Tyrique." He said biting his lips. "Oh, yeah, right but that was so last year." "True but I didn't have her arrested when I had the chance and if it wasn't for the guys then she would've hurt you again and it would've all been my fault and don't forget, by the time I got to our room that asshole had already put his hands on you." He said and she could hear the anger in his voice.

"Okay, I understand your frustration baby, I really do but look at it this way; you have a rare but very real sickness that can go from critical to fatal in seconds." She said sitting up straight and holding both his hands in hers. "Ty I've seen you angry and your anger is just as explosive as Caleb's, if you can believe that, and if you were present at any of those incidents that you mention then this is how it would probably play out." She sighs heavily while massaging his hands.

"First you would be so angry that you could very well end up killing Kayla, your cousin, although you almost did kill your cousin and of course, I think you would definitely kill Leon's brother; then because of the level of anger you would've been feeling at that point you would've blocked out and you probably would've ended up back in a coma or worse." She said sadly.

"Great so this all goes back to my illness." He snorts angrily. "I'm never there for my wife because of this disgusting illness." He said getting up and walking to the window. "But you were there for me, in the hospital room, every night after Kayla attacked me and you're here for me now."

"Yes, after, always after, and yes I heard you loud and clear about what could happen if I was there but I'm your husband, I'm supposed to be there, to protect you." "I know you want to be but God wants you here; to see your kids grow up. He wants you fit and alert to hold me and comfort me, God is protecting you by not putting you in a stressful situation." She explains.

"I'm a grown man, Janice, I should be able to handle stressful situations." He snaps. "But you can't, and he knows that. The last stressful situation you were in you ended up in a coma for about three weeks, I almost lost you, and…..I…..I…..I don't want…..that to….happen….again....I…..need you….here." she cried as he rushed over and hugged her tightly.

"Your kids….need you…here." She cried on his shoulder. "I'm sorry kitten, I didn't mean to upset you." He said softly. "It's just scary to think about what could happen to you if you get angry." She sobs. "Shh, okay, you're right, maybe it's a good thing I wasn't there." He smiles kissing her lips softly.

"You know she's right, right?" Caleb asks from behind them. "My kitten is always right but what do you think she's right about?" Ty asks turning towards his brother.

"You are always there for her, from the very first night you met her, and yes it was after she was hurt by her ex but you were there and you made sure that man couldn't get anywhere near her again.

And yes there were dangers everywhere and you couldn't protect her from all of them, none of us can. Her panic button on my phone went off when I was on my way over there and I still couldn't save her. Truth is, we all want to be our loved one's heroes but sometimes, we just don't get to be." Caleb said coming to stand beside Ty. "But you, you're a different kind of hero brother, you're special, you're here to find the cure for cancer or some disease we haven't heard of yet." Caleb laughs. "Yeah, like the one I have." Ty snorts. "No worries, you'll find the cure for that soon enough."
