After he left the room he spends the next five hours being questioned by the police.
Jason and Jessica entered Janice's room and gently placed their hands on Ty's shoulders. "Is she alright?" Jason asks softly looking at a sleeping Janice. "No, the news of Maya's death sends her pressure souring again." He said angrily massaging his wife's hand.
"I know this has also hit you very hard, so-um, we could stay with her if you want to go get some fresh air," Jessica said massaging his shoulder. "No, I don't want to leave her right now, but thanks for offering," Ty said his voice laced with anger and they didn't have long to wait to find out why.
"What Kayla did to me almost killed me and now Maya is dead because of my brother. I want to hate him so badly right now. His daughter will have to grow up without her mother because of him, my selfish ass-wipe of a brother."
"A family is forever divided because of him and his disgusting behavior," Ty growls under his breath so as not to wake his wife.
An hour later Ty was heading to the canteen to get something for Janice to snack on when he saw Caleb coming out of a room accompanied by two police officers. The officer nods to Caleb before walking away. "What are your charges?" Ty asks arms crossed. "Wrongful death," Caleb answers his head down.
"What's the penalties?" "A million-dollar fine and five hundred hours of community service, apparently they can't lock me up for being a cheating bastard." He said his head still down. "Listen brother…I….." "Don't, just don't, do you have any idea how badly I want to hate you right now?
I warned you when we saw how upset she was when she first found out you were cheating on her, then again when she fainted because her pressure was too high and you said, and I quote; my whoring days are behind me. Then you unveiled to us that indeed they weren't and you were currently sleeping with about four women, one of them being your own damn sister-in-law, and now this; this Caleb?
The mother of your first child is dead because you couldn't keep your pants zipped! Let me ask you something, this woman just lost her daughter, do you think she's going to see a million-dollar fine and five hundred hours of community service as justice for her child? No, she is going to see it as a slap on the wrist for the privileged little rich guy who killed her child.
Just in case there weren't enough lunatics running around out there trying to kill us already; you had to go and add a few more to the list…" "I'm sorry brother…i…." "Little too late, brother. Good luck living this one down" Ty sneers walking away from him.
Caleb was on his way back to the waiting room to face his mother when he saw Chris on a bed being examined by a doctor with a police officer standing next to him. "Half pint, what the hell happened to you?" Caleb asks in shock as his eyes travel to where a nasty-looking purple bruise ran around Chris's neck.
"Are you a witness to this attack?" the officer asks giving Caleb a suspicious look. "No, I'm his cousin, what happened?" Caleb asks again. "You both can get to that after I'm finished taking his statement. Please wait outside." The officer said turning back to Christian.
A few minutes later the officer came out of the room followed by Christian, one of the nurses pass by and patted Caleb on his shoulder. "Sorry about your wife." She said in a sympathetic tone before continuing on her way.
"Why is she sorry about your wife? What's wrong with Maya this time?" Christian asks in a hoarse voice. "Maya is dead, because of me. She found out I was still cheating; it was too much for her heart. She had a sudden cardiac arrest, they couldn't save her…..Fabian tried, neither Dad nor Tyler was home but he really tried his best until the ambulance arrived but she died anyway," Caleb said his voice trailing off.
"What happened to you?" Caleb asks wiping tears from his eyes. "Wait, back up, Maya is what now!?" "You heard me, she's dead and it's all my fault and what's worse, I may have just put my entire family in danger not to mention how upset they all are with me right now, damn, they hate me and I can't blame them, I deserve it." He said fighting back his tears.
"Now enough about me, what the hell happened to you?" "Well after you left the club saying you were going to meet up with Aisha, I left Alan at the club two hours later and went home with the intention of spending some time talking with Jared on the tablet but someone jumped me in my parking lot and tried to strangle me with a piece of rope," Christian explain.
"What?!" "Yes, I had my knives so I pushed one into the side of the person trying to kill me. The person let go and when I catch my breath and could get a better look at the person that was at that time on the ground groaning in pain I realized I had just stabbed Mitch, our cousin." "Mitch?" Caleb asks in disbelief.
"Yes, Mitch, my own cousin tried to kill me tonight because I'm gay," Christian said, tears welling up in his eyes. "What did the police say?" Caleb asks through clenched teeth. "They ruled it as self-defense. What about you? Will you be charged for what happened to Maya?"
"No, I've to pay a fine and do five hundred hours of community service," Caleb said his voice sad and drawn and tired. "Where's Mitch now?" Caleb asks. "In one of those rooms over there," Chris said indicating a few doors running on the side of the corridor.
"Well, I did say that if anyone comes after you, they will have me to deal with, so it's his funeral. On the other hand, Edwards got his ass royally beaten because he upset you by kidnapped Janice, yes, yes, I know he said he did it to keep us out of jail but I think it was because what Edwards did upset you a lot and the love of your life made him pay." Caleb snorts.
"Trust me, I'm the least of Mitch's problems right now." Caleb says, "Well thank God I won't have to deal with my overly protective other half until tomorrow evening." Chris said with a heavy sigh. "So, what are you planning on doing now? You going home?"
"No, I'm just going to go chill at Alan's or something. I don't think I can face my parents tonight." He said biting his bottom lip. "Why don't you come chill at my place instead," Chris suggests. "Sure, I guess I can do that."
